This GOP rep wore body armor to Trump's 'Save America' rally after saying he didn't believe it would end in violence

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) is facing scrutiny after the release of contradictory details suggest he was well aware of the possibility of violence erupting at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. The latest revelation came to light during the Republican lawmaker's recent interview with Slate magazine.

During the interview, Brooks revealed he actually wore body armor when he spoke at Trump's "Save America" rally at the White House Ellipse.

"When I gave my speech at the Ellipse, I was wearing body armor," he said. Brooks wouldn't say who tipped him off, what violence could occur, or whether he passed the tip on to relevant people. "That's why I was wearing that nice little windbreaker," he said. "To cover up the body armor."
