Pence turns heads when he appears to suggest that he has no desire to vote for Trump again

Former Vice President Mike Pence recently declined to confirm whether or not he would vote for former President Donald Trump if he were selected as the 2024 Republican presidential candidate.

On Wednesday, October 19, Pence made an appearance at Georgetown University for a conservative conference hosted by the Young America’s Foundation.

After he delivered his remarks, students were given the opportunity to ask questions.

One student after the former president, “Mr. Pence, if Donald Trump is the Republican nominee for president in 2024, will you vote for him?”

As attendees reacted to the question, Pence sat quietly before offering an answer to the question. “Well, there might be somebody else I’d prefer more,” Pence said as the crowd applauded. “What I can tell you is I have every confidence that the Republican Party is going to sort out leadership. All my focus has been on the midterm elections and it will stay that way for the next 20 days.”

Speaking about the possibility of what's to come after the Nov. 8 midterm election, Pence said he will be “thinking about the future.”

Over the last year, the former vice president has been more vocal about his opposition to Trump.

Back in February, Pence pushed back against Trump's claims regarding vice presidential powers.

“There are those in our party who believe that as the presiding officer over the joint session of Congress that I possessed unilateral authority to reject Electoral College votes,” Pence told the Federalist Society. “And I heard this week that former President Trump said I had the right to overturn the election."

He continued: President Trump is wrong. I had no right to overturn the election. The presidency belongs to the American people, and the American people alone. And frankly, there is almost no idea more un-American than the notion that any one person could choose the American president.
