Ex-White House aide exposes Melania Trump's paltry response when asked to denounce the Jan. 6 riots

Former First Lady Melania Trump was asked to publicly make a call for peace amid the chaos that unfolded on Jan. 6 but newly-uncovered text messages are revealing her reaction to the suggestion.

According to HuffPost, former White House aide Stephanie Grisham has shared her text conversation with the former first lady as her husband's crowd of angry supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol.

Amid the unrest, Grisham —who served as Trump's chief of staff at the time of the Capitol insurrection— suggested that Trump attempt to quell the chaos with a call to stop the violence. However, the text messages have revealed Trump declined to do so. Grisham took to Twitter with a screenshot of the conversation.

The text conversation came just hours before Grisham announced her resignation. Although Grisham has publicly condemned former President Donald Trump during his post-White House era and released the incriminating message from Melania Trump, at the time of her resignation, she simply tweeted remarks to the sound of a different tune.

On Jan. 6, she tweeted, "It has been an honor to serve the country in the [WhiteHouse.] I am very proud to have been a part of [FLOTUS] [MELANIATRUMP] mission to help children everywhere, & proud of the many accomplishments of this Administration. Signing off now - you can find me at [OMGrisham].

Grisham has also taken a path similar to other former Trump officials, writing a tell-all memoir about her time working with the unhinged former president. The tweeted text conversation reportedly coincides with an account of Jan. 6 that was documented in Grisham's book.

While Melania Trump refused to publicly denounce the violence that ensued at the Capitol building, she released a statement five days after the incident saying she was “disappointed and disheartened with what happened last week,”

She said, “I find it shameful that surrounding these tragic events there has been salacious gossip, unwarranted personal attacks and false misleading accusations on me."
