‘Masks are oppressive’: Marjorie Taylor Greene condemns mask-wearing during new member orientation for Congress

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), a known QAnon conspiracy supporter, is facing heightened backlash for her insensitive remarks on the Sandy Hook and Parkland shootings.

On Thursday, Jan. 21, Eric Hananoki, an investigative reporter for the watchdog platform Media Matters for America, managed to uncover past Facebook posts Greene uploaded to share her opinion of the mass shootings. Greene described 9/11 as an "inside job" as she insisted that the Sandy Hook and Parkland shootings were false flag operations.

The progressive media outlet uncovered a 2018 post from Greene agreed with a social media as she insisted 9/11 "was done by our own gov[ernment]" and "none of the school shootings were real or done by the ones who were supposedly arrested for them."

Social media users quickly fired back with deep criticism of Greene and her remarks. One Twitter user challenged her to offer clarity on her stance saying, "So are you going to actually say 'I believe that the Parkland school shooting happened as reported, and do not in any way believe it was a false flag event'"

Others wasted no time slamming Greene for spewing more misinformation and conspiracy theories.

However, Greene makes no apologies for her actions. In fact, Greene tweeted, "Communist bloggers like @mmfa run the same playbook of lies and smears on people they feel threatened by. Produce fake news, spread it all around, then tag all fake news stories about their victim in all future stories. Guess what? Nobody cares about your BS."

Despite her lashing out at Hananoki, he also noted that she did not say if she believed the reporting was inaccurate.

After being pressured to offer clarity about her opinion, Mediate reports that Greene posted a now-deleted tweet that read, "That is all true."
