When former President Donald Trump was being interviewed by Fox News' Harris Faulkner on Monday, March 22, she reported that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas had resigned — only to retract that information less than a minute later.
Speaking to Trump by phone, Faulkner reported what she thought was breaking news — telling him, "The DHS secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, has resigned, Mr. President. Your thoughts?"
Trump responded, "Well, I'm not surprised, good. That's a big victory."
But Faulkner asked Trump to hold his thoughts, saying she needed to check with her producers "one more time." And then, Faulker clarified, "Forgive me. That has not happened. And I apologize" — to which Trump responded, with a laugh, "OK, cross out that victory."
Faulkner told Trump, "Let me clean up on Aisle 7 with my error. He has not resigned."
