What VP Debate? Watch Jimmy Kimmel Spoof Some Very Clueless Voters
05 October 2016
Jimmy Kimmel wasn't too jazzed about the vice-presidential debate, but who was? Other than its participants, of course.
"It was on all the major networks and cable news channels. Why, I don't know. To me, one channel seemed sufficient," Kimmel opened with on Tuesday night's show.
Of course, debates are important and voters should be informed—at least about debates that actually exist. Which gave Kimmel the idea for his newest edition of "Lie Witness News."
"[Tuesday] afternoon, we went out on the street. We asked people what they thought of the first lady debate between Melania Trump and Bill Clinton," Kimmel explained.
"Obviously, there was no first lady debate, although it would be pretty great if there was. There's never been a first lady debate, and Bill Clinton is not a lady," the host added. "But if you think that stopped people from giving their opinions of it, guess again."
"Well, I think for her first time, under the circumstances, you know, [Melania] did okay, as far as presentaion," one Los Angeles passerby told the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" correspondent when asked how he thought Melania Trump did during the first lady debate.
"[But] as far as the topics were concerned, I don't think she was smooth enough," he added.
"She wasn't as informed as everybody else," a second pedestrian explained.
"Bill Cinton's been in the office so many times, so he knows how to prepare," another noted.
"What do you think Melania meant during the debate last night when she said, 'My job is to stand by my husband, my amazing husband Barack and my daughters, Sasha and Malia.' Do you think that that was accidental plagiarism?" the interviewer asked.
The responses were even more hilarious.
"I think it was accidental," one woman responded, adding that "[Melania is] a foreign lady [who] still needs to learn more of our language."
"I kind of understood her point of view," she admitted.
Meanwhile, Bill Clinton was just "being himself," one man noted. "He didn't fake it."
