Stephen Colbert finally threw his ten-gallon hat into the ring of commentators on scofflaw Nevada rancher/right-wing darling Cliven Bundy Thursday night. First he summed up Bundy's brave stand against paying his bills, and the wonderful people who rallied around Bundy's cause and strategized that they would put women in the front lines in case the Feds started shooting.

Colbert also gave a shout out to Sean Hannity  for eating up the Bundy story so voracioiusly that, "Bundy should have charged Hannity grazing fees."

Then it was on to the main event, the 'Ballad of Cliven Bundy' because, as Colbert duly notes,  "every folk hero deserves a folk song."

Colbert strummed away, but when a clip of Bundy's recent statement, "I want to tell you one more thing I know about the negro . . ." came on, the song abruptly stopped, because, Colbert fumbled, "nothing rhymes with negro."

Embarrassing little racism glitch there for Bundy's right-wing, Fox Newsian worshippers. What to do now? But look, Colbert points out, Bundy is just wondering if African-Americans might not be better off as slaves. "Is it a crime just to wonder?" Colbert asked plaintively.

Watch and listen to the 'Ballad.' You will not be able to stop humming this ditty.
