WATCH: Jon Stewart's Definitive Takedown of Our Endless Middle East Stupidity

"Learning curves are for pussies!" Jon Stewart lamented on Tuesday's show. He was referring to the fact that the U.S. never learns, well, a goddamned thing about the Middle East. In a definitive takedown of U.S. policy in the region for as long as anyone alive can remember, Stewart really laid it on the line. Virtually every time we have sent arms to rebels, or those we perceived as good guys, they have them turn into enemies. We backed the Mujahadeen and they morphed into the Taliban. We backed Saddam Hussein against Iran. Iraq's Baathists became ISIS, and now Iran is our ally.

"We're like Wile E. Coyote," Stewart said. "Every time we send a weapon into the desert, it ends up where we don't want it to be!"

The C.I.A. commissioned a study that proved that it never works when we arm rebels, essentially damning everything the C.I.A. has ever done.

But it's all Obama's fault, and we should arm the Kurds immediately! 

It's a brilliant segment, a history lesson in absurdity and dunderheaded policy wrapped up in a 10-minute segment.
