Fox News correspondent Todd Piro on Thursday went into a blue-collar diner in Missouri to discuss politics — and he was surprised to find a man there who ardently backed the Green New Deal.

During a visit to the Corner Cafe in Riverside, Missouri, Piro asked a man named Jack about why he wanted to hear presidential candidates talk more about climate change.

The man responded by giving an articulate, well thought out response.

“It’s really important that we keep below two degrees Celsius of average warming, otherwise the consequences are going to be devastating,” he explained.

“How do we pay for it?” asked Piro.

“How did we pay for World War II?” the man shot back. “At the end of the day, with something this important, our economy is going to suffer if we don’t pay for it.”

He went on to explain that the government during World War II used a combination of war bonds and tax increases to fund the war effort, and he said that he could imagine something similar happening to fund the Green New Deal.

“Jack, thank you for your time,” Piro said before quickly moving on to another person at the diner.
