Actress Ellen Page confronted Ted Cruz while he tried to grill pork chops at an Iowa State Fair this week.

He apparently had no idea who he was talking to, and kept addressing her as ma'am.

Page asked him about his position on religious liberty, and wondered if he realized it was an argument that had historically been used to discriminate against people.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Cruz did not see it that way. "We don't have a right to force people to abandon their faith," he said, which was not what she was saying at all.

What about the fact that in some states people can be fired for being gay and for being trans, Page, who is openly gay, asked.

His answer: "We should not be persecuting people... for their religious faith."

Tricky. at one point he told her he'd answer her questions but not get into a debate with her, and then he complained about liberal intolerance.

Go Ellen!
