Warrant issued for Ammon Bundy after dodging lawsuit for more than one year

An Idaho judge has issued a warrant for the arrest of Ammon Bundy.

According to The Idaho Statesman, Ada County Judge Lynn Norton issued the civil warrant for the conservative militant and activist's arrest following his repeated attempts to avoid appearing in court in response to the lawsuit filed on behalf of St. Luke's Health System.

The report also states that Norton "found probable cause that Bundy committed contempt and set his bail at $10,000."

Per Idaho News: "St. Luke's is asking the Idaho Supreme Court to compel Wunder to 'comply with his statutory duties to serve process and notices,' as well as prohibit Wunder from pursuing trespass charges against process servers who enter Bundy's property."

The latest development follows a petition filed by the Supreme Court where St. Luke's said: "It has been unable to find private process servers to deliver legal documents to Bundy. St. Luke's lawyer Erik Stidham wrote that private servers expressed concerns about 'online attacks, armed protests at their homes, and violence.'"

The petition also notes that "Bundy reported some private process servers for trespassing on his property. Process servers are not specifically exempted from trespass laws in Idaho."

In wake of the latest development, Erik Stidham, one of the attorneys representing the health system, weighed in on Bundy's actions and the possible consequences he could face.

"I think it's impossible not to conclude that, absent Mr. Bundy having some consequences for his actions, it will just continue," said Stidham.
