Vivek Ramaswamy will appoint Elon Musk if elected 'because he laid off 75% of the employees at Twitter'

If biotech entrepreneur and 2024 Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is elected president, he plans to appoint X — formerly known as Twitter — Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk to his administration as an adviser, NBC News reports.

The GOP hopeful, according to NBC, says he plans to appoint people with "a blank fresh impression," and that he's "enjoyed getting to know better, Elon Musk recently."

Noting that the biotech millionaire "admires the mass layoffs Musk conducted after taking over" the social media giant in 2022, the GOP hopeful has "reiterated his desire for mass changes across the federal government, saying 'mass layoffs are absolutely what I will bring to the D.C. bureaucracy.'"

According to NBC, Ramaswamy has emphasized, "I expect him to be an interesting adviser of mine because he laid off 75% of the employees at Twitter."

However, the report also notes that Musk has mentioned that he doesn't see eye-to-eye with the millennial GOP hopeful on "climate stuff."

During Fox News' GOP debate Wednesday, August 23, Ramaswamy made several climate claims that have since been debunked by New York Times fact-check reporter Linda Qiu.

During the first GOP debate on Tuesday, Vivek Ramaswamy said, 'The climate change agenda is a hoax,' and he tweeted his quote in response to President Joe Biden writing 'climate change is real, by the way.' Musk replied to Ramaswamy's post writing, 'It is possibly overstated in the short term, but we should be concerned about it long term.'

Still, according to the news outlet, "Musk on Aug. 17 reposted an interview on his social media platform, X, between Ramaswamy and Tucker Carlson, calling Ramaswamy 'a very promising candidate.'"
