Twitter burns 'serial shapeshifter' Marsha Blackburn for her hypocritical opposition to Ketanji Brown Jackson

United States Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee) told reporters on Thursday that she could not support Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson's nomination to the Supreme Court because Jackson refused to define the word "woman" during her confirmation hearings last month.

Jackson, who was confirmed 53-47 this afternoon as the first Black woman to serve as an associate justice of the Supreme Court, responded at the time that she is "not a biologist" and that it was inappropriate for her to opine on social issues.

"I will not hold this against the nominee," Blackburn snapped back.

Since then, right-wing lawmakers – Blackburn in particular – have latched onto the brief exchange as a rallying cry to torpedo Jackson's nomination.

Today was the latest iteration.

"There are enduring differences between male and female. She said she couldn't give that definition, and of course, we know why," Blackburn said at a press conference. "It is because the dark-money leftist groups that have been pushing to have a progressive in the Supreme Court have been pushing her nomination confirmation do not want that definition."

Blackburn's remark about supposed "dark-money leftist groups" is especially ironic considering that she voted for former President Donald Trump's three Supreme Court appointments, whose nominations were backed by shadowy anti-choice right-wing groups such as the Federalist Society. Notably, Trump declared early in his presidency that being against abortion was the most important factor in whom he chose to sit on the Court for life.

Nevertheless, Blackburn's foredoomed crusade to keep Jackson off the Court dredged forward.

"They're trying to erase 'woman,'" Blackburn continued, offering no evidence or names of specific organizations that she insists had backrolling Jackson's candidacy. "They are trying to push this agenda of woke education. These are some of the reasons, for me, that I cannot vote to confirm her to the US Supreme Court."
