Watch: Tucker Carlson has a bizarre reason why he believes the media will minimize the NY subway shooting

Fox News' Tucker Carlson recently shared a controversial claim about the disturbing Brooklyn subway shooting that took place in New York on Tuesday, April 12.

As news outlets released coverage of the mass shooting, Carlson decided to offer his perspective during his Tuesday night segment of “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” Although a Black male identified as Frank James has been publicly named as the shooting suspect Carlson argues that the media may minimize the severity of the shooting since the shooter was a Black male as opposed to a White supremacist.

“We do know he was not a white supremacist, so we’re betting the media are not going to dwell on this,” the conservative talk show host said. “There’s nothing to gain from covering this particular atrocity. Just another mass shooting in the big city. It’s all so sad.”

In wake of the latest shooting, news outlets have shared a brief detailed history of James based on what is known, thus far. In the days leading up to the shooting, James reportedly uploaded a series of posts on social media over the course of the last few years.

In one video, according to ABC7NY, James criticized the United States describing it as a pit of violence. "This nation was born in violence, it's kept alive by violence or the threat thereof and it's going to die a violent death," he said in one video. "There's nothing going to stop that."

In another video, James voiced his frustrations with racism in America and crimes targeting Black people.

Per ABC7NY, James said:

"'You got kids going in here now taking machine guns and mowing down innocent people," James said. "It's not going to get better until we make it better,' he said, adding that he thought things would only change if certain people were 'stomped, kicked and tortured' out of their 'comfort zone.'"

NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell also weighed in with his reaction to James' social media posts. Speaking to MSNBC News, New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) also shared his reaction to the shooting. "We are going to continue to close the loop around him and bring him in, and continue the investigation into this horrific act against innocent New Yorkers," he told MSNBC.

Despite Carlson's claims, he is actually a member of the media known for downplaying incidents where race is involved. On numerous occasions, Carlson has deemed white supremacy to be nothing more than a "hoax." He's also accused President Joe Biden and his administration of depicting the impact of white supremacy and racism to be far worse than he believes it is.

As of Wednesday, April 13, 2022, James is still considered at large and very dangerous. The New York Police Department is asking with information on James' whereabouts to contact the NYPD tip line at 1-800-577-TIPS. Authorities have also announced a $50,000 reward for information that leads to James' arrest.
