'A gigantic filter': Tucker Carlson twists himself in knots to explain election upset

Fox News' Tucker Carlson offered a contradictory stance to explain why the Republican Party failed to meet its own expectations for the 2022 midterm elections.

According to Carlson, Fox News was one of the biggest media influences for members of the political party but he's also attempting to blame the media for the party's lackluster election results.

Per HuffPost, the "anticipated 'red wave' washed out in a trickle, in part because of the losing candidates endorsed by former President Donald Trump, many say."

The far-right primetime host dismissed the argument that “bad candidates” were the political party's issue as he argued that “candidate quality is actually not the most important thing.”

“Access to channels of communication” is a critical path to victory — and in that, Fox News did its part, Carlson claimed.

“You can say whatever you want, but if no one hears you, you’re not really speaking,” the host said. “And that’s the case for Republicans. So often, as of tonight, Republicans can communicate their message unencumbered on a single cable television channel and a handful of relatively low-trafficked websites. That’s it.”

He went on to blame the media for the political party's election results. “The rest of the American media amounts to a gigantic filter designed to distort what Republicans are saying,” Carlson said. “It’s a campaign apparatus and only the Democrats have it.”
