The hypocrisy in GOP's severing of ties with longtime TrumpWorld adviser amid sexual misconduct allegations

Corey Lewandowski out at 'Trump world' after allegations he 'stalked' and 'inappropriately touched' donor

When longtime Trump advisor Corey Lewandowski was hit with sexual misconduct allegations, it did not take long for members of the Republican Party to cut ties with him.

However, a new piece published by The HuffPost highlights the hypocrisy in that. While Lewandowski is being chastised and ostracized for the allegations against him, the publication noted "those same Republicans have no problem standing by the former president himself, a man who has faced far more sexual misconduct allegations."

In fact, Trump is facing sexual misconduct allegations from "at least 26 women," the publication emphasized. Based on the allegations against Trump, he and Lewandowski are in a relatively similar predicament.

"Women have accused Trump of grabbing their breasts and putting his hands up their skirts, forcibly kissing them and other forms of sexual assault," HuffPost writes.

Trashelle Odom, Lewandowski's accuser, recently detailed similar allegations against the former Trump advisor.

But not only did Republicans continue to support Trump in the midst of his scandal, the former president still managed to make it to the White House and maintain unwavering support from his base and fierce loyalty from Republican lawmakers.

The fall out with Lewandowski came after reports began circulating about the allegations. The Pro-Trump Super PAC confirmed that Lewandowski "would no longer be overseeing the committee and would no longer be associated with Trump World."

As the Super PAC's remarks made its way around social media, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) and Nebraska gubernatorial candidate Charles Herbster made it clear they also wanted nothing to do with Lewandowski.

However, despite Trump's past frustrations with his longtime advisor and campaign donor, even he has refrained from completely severing ties with Lewandowski. But it's still unclear whether or not he will personally do so this time around.

The latest allegations against Lewandowski come five years after his last string of allegations. In 2016, Lewandowski was slapped with a misdemeanor count of battery for forcibly grabbing reporter Michelle Fields and pulling her away from the former president. Both he and Trump denied the physical altercation despite there being footage to support the allegation.
