President Donald Trump was furious with the coverage he received about the Doral country club, so he posted comparison photos twice yesterday, including one before his final posts for the night.
The first post came Monday afternoon when he alleged that the New York Times "doctored" a photo of Trump International Doral in Miami, Florida to make it look dirty and old. As Trump called it, “shoddy, filthy, and just plain BAD.” He alleges that it's bright white and pristine. The second post came shortly before midnight after his midwestern rally.
“This is what I have to deal with on a constant basis—Artificial News! The Times is a CROOKED outfit that caters to Lunatics who want to see our Country fail,” Trump wrote. “Its numbers are way down due to lack of credibility, and this posting is just a small sample of what I have had to put up with, each and every day, for many years!”
The photo from the Timesmakes the building look more off-white or cream-colored than white. The eaves have dirt and rust that has run down the sides of the building.
The article, written by Peter Baker, focuses on the ethics of Trump making money by hosting the G20 summit at his private country club in Miami. The report detailed how much Trump is profiting from his time in the White House, crossing ethical lines he didn't cross in his first term. Instead, Trump saw the photo of the club and flew off the handle.
“Guys like Liddle’ Peter Baker, and Maggot HAGerman, are Third Rate Reporters, who I haven’t spoken to in years, but who write about me constantly, never fact checking, or caring, about whether or not their story is true,” Trump wrote. “Some day in the not too distant future The Times will be forced to close its dirty doors, and that will be a Great Day for America!”
“These people are STONE COLD LOSERS—Totally dishonest. That’s why they’re going TO HELL, and their subscription numbers are way down,” he added.
Buildings can look different at different times of day and year. Trump's photos show the building after a slick renovation, when everything looked perfect.
Trump completed the renovation in 2014 after acquiring it in 2012, adding a multimillion-dollar revitalization, hotel accommodations and luxury event spaces, Trump's site and a PGA article from April detail.
The photos from the PGA article show the building in a color similar to the New York Times report than Trump's photo.
