'Must need the money': Trump roasted for selling pieces of suit he wore in GA mugshot
12 December 2023
Former President Donald Trump is now advertising a new offer to supporters: Trading cards featuring his likeness and a piece of the suit he wore to get his mugshot taken at the Fulton County Jail.
Lawfare correspondent Anna Bower tweeted on Tuesday that the website Collect Trump Trading Cards — which is run by an NFT collective that licensed the rights to sell digital Trump trading cards using blockchain technology — is now offering Trump supporters pieces of the navy blue suit he wore when he became the first former US president to have his inmate booking mugshot taken by law enforcement. A trading card with a piece of the suit costs $99, not including a $4 handling fee.
"Get the suit that everyone is talking about," the website posted, calling the suit "The Most Historically Significant Artifact in United States History."
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?
The advertisement was met with ridicule on X (formerly Twitter), with users pointing out that the solicitation seemed like a desperate new low for the 45th president of the United States.
"Gold coins, mugshot trading cards, pieces of a suit, maybe a lock of hair next," X user @ItWasACoup tweeted.
"Put me down for one piece, as long as I can preorder a swatch of his verdict suit and sentencing suit as a package," tweeted @TheSnarkTank99.
"Must need the money," X user @lifewave98 posted, along with two laughing-crying emojis.

The former president has more frequently turned to his base of individual donors to fund not just his campaign, but his mounting legal expenses. In October, the AP reported that Trump's Save America political action committee has already spent roughly $37 million on legal fees paid to more than 60 law firms since January of 2022. To put that sum in context, the AP added that the PAC has spent more than $20 million on legal fees during the first six months of this year, which is more than what the Republican National Committee, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee spent in that period combined.
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden is outpacing his predecessor in the latest campaign finance race. CNN reported in October that Biden's campaign cleared $71 million in third-quarter fundraising, with an average donation of $40 and 97% of donations coming in at $200 or less. Biden's campaign still has $91 million in cash on hand. Trump, for his part, raised $45.5 million in the third quarter of 2023, with $37.5 million on hand.
