President Donald Trump may be viewing Vice President JD Vance in a different light following this week's leaks of highly sensitive attack plans on a group text thread, according to some Senate Republicans.
Mediaite reported Thursday that the recent revelations of top Cabinet-level officials in the Trump administration communicating on a a group thread using the Signal app has been somewhat embarrassing for the vice president. While discussing airstrikes on Houthi rebels in Yemen, Vance suggested that Trump didn't fully grasp the impact the attack could have on geopolitical relations.
"I am not sure the president is aware how inconsistent this is with his message on Europe right now," Vance wrote. "There's a further risk that we see a moderate to severe spike in oil prices. I am willing to support the consensus of the team and keep these concerns to myself. But there is a strong argument for delaying this a month, doing the messaging work on why this matters, seeing where the economy is, etc."

According to Jewish Insider, seven Senate Republicans speaking anonymously said that they feel Trump could be having "buyer's remorse" about elevating Vance from the Senate to the White House in light of him publicly criticizing his boss.
"I’ve gotta wonder if Trump’s looking at this and going, ‘What have I done?'" One senator said. Another lawmaker opined that "Trump might come to regret anointing Vance as his heir apparent by tapping him as his running mate last year." However, one of Vance's former GOP colleagues in the Senate questioned the vice president's own foreign policy judgment after reading the leaked texts.
"It was shocking to me that he didn’t see the need to strike back when they struck our naval vessels. That’s not a British problem or a European problem. Frankly, them striking our friends in Israel is more than enough justification," they said. "It’s the Tucker Carlson view of how to use military power."
But on the record, Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) said that while he personally didn't share Vance's views, he respected the vice president for being "consistent" on his non-interventionist stance, saying: "He does not like to see the deployment or the projection of American power outside of a direct threat to the United States. He’s at least consistent on that. I disagree with him, but he is consistent."
