Trump orders Mulvaney to fire Secret Service director as part of ‘near-systemic purge’ of key national security personnel: CNN

President Donald Trump is reportedly not done firing key national security personnel.

CNN is reporting that Trump has ordered White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney to fire United States Secret Service director Randolph “Tex” Alles, just one day after the president dismissed Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.

One anonymous official tells CNN that the Trump White House is undergoing something close to a full cleansing of people working at important national security positions.

“There is a near-systematic purge happening at the nation’s second-largest national security agency,” the official said.

Other officials rumored to be on the chopping block include United States Citizenship and Immigration Services director Francis Cissna and Office of the General Counsel’s John Mitnick, CNN reports.

Trump has reportedly become “unhinged” as large numbers of migrants have been approaching the United States border in an effort to claim asylum in the country. His displeasure with several of his own national security officials reportedly stems from the fact that they have refused to violate the law to carry out his orders.
