President Donald Trump started his day on Thursday with a bizarre tweet about the need for America to be the best at “6G” wireless networks, which don’t currently exist.

“I want 5G, and even 6G, technology in the United States as soon as possible,” the president wrote. “It is far more powerful, faster, and smarter than the current standard. American companies must step up their efforts, or get left behind. There is no reason that we should be lagging behind on something that is so obviously the future. I want the United States to win through competition, not by blocking out currently more advanced technologies. We must always be the leader in everything we do, especially when it comes to the very exciting world of technology!”

“5G” is a wireless industry buzzword for a new wireless standard that is set to replace the 4G LTE standard currently used by wireless carriers to transmit mobile data. Although there will eventually be a “6G” of some kind, researchers only just started work on the standardization process that will make this technology possible.

Given this, Trump was hilariously mocked for his tweet hyping up nonexistent “6G” technology — check out the best responses below.
