Former US prosecutor expresses doubt about the Trump legal team's latest reported defense strategy

A former U.S. attorney recently dismissed a claim that former President Donald Trump's legal team is trying to prevent him from lodging an attack aimed at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in hopes that they will remain at bay.

Former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade's remarks came during her recent appearance on "The Katie Phang Show."

The interview was conducted less than a day after The Washington Post report that suggested there is division among the members of Trump's legal team.

Per the report, some believe a more aggressive approach will be effective while others insist he should tone down his stratagem.

The Post reported: "Kise was brought aboard, he finds himself in a battle, trying to persuade Trump to go along with his legal strategy and fighting with some other advisers who have counseled a more aggressive posture. The dispute has raged for at least a week, Trump advisers say, with the former president listening asvarious lawyers make their best arguments."

When Phang asked about Kise's approach, McQuade weighed in with her perspective. "Some Trump lawyers are saying to turn down the temperature the DOJ," the MSNBC host prompted. "What do you make of this recorded divide in terms of what is supposed to be a single front legal team?"

"I say, Katie, to those lawyers who joined in good faith and think they're going to change Donald Trump: bless you and good luck, here we go again," McQuade replied.

Although Trump's legal team may be advising him with their proposed strategy, McQuade dismissed the idea of him taking their strategy into deep consideration. "Donald Trump has one mode and it is all offense all the time," she noted.

"Anyone who thinks he is going to change, you know, it's like the woman who marries the man and says 'I'm going to change him.' No. People are who they are," she explained. "At this point in life, shame on him for not knowing who Donald Trump is."
