In a clip shared on Fox News host Laura Ingraham's Facebook page on Monday, President Donald Trump gave her of the Oval Office — and Ingraham asked Trump if all the gold accessories, trim and decor came from Home Depot, which he denied.
Turns out, much of the decor may indeed be available at the chain store, as some internet sleuths have discovered.
Ingraham asked Trump “So these aren’t from Home Depot?” Trump replied, “Nah, this is not Home Depot stuff," he said, reports The Daily Beast.
Policy consultant Adam Cochran quoted Trump in a post on X, along with a screenshot from the store selling a molding that appears in the Oval Office.
"It is literally Home Depot Stuff," Cochran said.
Cochran then added, "Then again Trump is dumb and surrounded by crooks. Maybe he thinks it’s real gold, has been paying for real gold and getting shafted."
Vaughn Sterling, executive producer of CNN"s "The Source with Kaitlan Collins," reposted Cochran's post, saying "This is so bizarre."
Another X user by the name of Urbanista Ramon quipped, "Yeah, looks like that 'gold leaf spray paint' is coming in handy for the Oval!"
Another commenter replied, saying, "embezzlement[.]"
"How will he keep up the pace after buying out Home Depot? Trump has glued so many of the same shape on the walls, up, down and sideways, it is clear there is zero craftsmanship or actual gold leaf. It is mass manufactured. No one would apply 14k gold on top of poly," wrote X user Melissa Clark.
"The Trump era won’t be called The Second Gilded Age. Gilding implies that there’s at least a covering of real gold. No, the Trump era will be called The Spray Paint Age: obviously fake but sold to us by a conman president who is desperate for us to play along with the facade," Jessica Johnson offered.
