President Donald Trump recently posted a nearly 300-word screed to his Truth Social platform attacking one of his longest and most committed supporters.
Trump announced that he was "withdrawing my support and Endorsement of 'Congresswoman' Marjorie Taylor Greene, of the Great State of Georgia" on Friday night. He lamented that despite his "Record Achievement for our Country" and "having created the “HOTTEST” Country anywhere in the World," Greene was a constant critic of his administration.
"[A]ll I see 'Wacky' Marjorie do is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN! It seemed to all begin when I sent her a Poll stating that she should not run for Senator, or Governor, she was at 12%, and didn’t have a chance (unless, of course, she had my Endorsement — which she wasn’t about to get!)," Trump wrote in his signature style of oddly placed capital letters.
Trump went on to tell his followers that the Georgia Republican "has told many people that she is upset that I don’t return her phone calls anymore," but defended his stiff-arming of Greene by saying "with 219 Congressmen/women, 53 U.S. Senators, 24 Cabinet Members, almost 200 Countries and an otherwise normal life to lead, I can’t take a ranting Lunatic’s call every day."
The president then took the step of encouraging Republicans in Georgia's 14th Congressional District to mount a primary challenge against Greene, and that the "right person" could count on his endorsement.
"I understand that wonderful, Conservative people are thinking about primarying Marjorie in her District of Georgia, that they too are fed up with her and her antics and, if the right person runs, they will have my Complete and Unyielding Support," Trump wrote. "She has gone Far Left, even doing The View, with their Low IQ Republican hating Anchors. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
Trump's missive against Greene comes after she was one of the few Republicans to support the bipartisan discharge petition that would compel the Department of Justice to release all remaining documents pertaining to deceased child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Greene also routinely blamed her own party for the recent 43-day government shutdown, and criticized party leadership for their unwillingness to entertain an extension of Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies. Greene wrote on her X account that her adult children were in the position of having their health insurance premiums double in cost if the ACA tax credits weren't renewed.
