Experts vehemently disagree on whether President Donald Trump is mentally fit to be president. Some use terms like "maniac" to describe him. Others say it's inappropriate to assess any public figure if you have not personally met them. Yet according to recent experts, it is reasonable to conclude regardless of one's stances otherwise that Trump is "off the deep end."
"President Donald Trump has officially gone beyond the pale, author Jennifer Welch says," reported The Daily Beast's Vic Verbalaitis along with The Daily Beast Podcast on Wednesday. “His closing message—it’s a really bizarre thing to watch. It’s become so normal to us that oftentimes, I have to step back and say, ‘This is the President of the United States. This is unacceptable.’”
The Daily Beast continued to report, "The Not Today, Fascists author explained that Trump’s recent spree of uttering “strange noises,” his inability to remember people’s names, and his weird fascination with male bodies are indicative of his downfall. “He’s deep in red states, by the way,” she added. “Deep, deep, deep in Trump country trying to save Trump country, which is interesting.”"
Welch was particularly fascinated by what she had described as Trump's "weird fascination with male bodies," such as his effusive praise for the backside of Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) and insulting the attractiveness of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R-TX) while campaigning for their Senate elections.
Welch observed, “And then he starts trashing Ted Cruz, who’s also in attendance, and he goes, ‘Yeah, I’m going to appoint Ted Cruz to be on the Supreme Court because all the Democrats hate him and all the Republicans hate him.’ And Ted stands up and smiles and waves. It’s the weirdest thing, watching these men race up to be either humiliated and/or objectified by Donald Trump."
Speaking with AlterNet earlier in October, clinical and forensic psychologist Dr. Alan D. Blotcky asserted that Trump is acting nihilistically.
"Look, here's my position about this, and people don't talk about this, and this may sound overly cynical or fearful," Blotcky told AlterNet. "I think Trump ultimately wants to destroy everything around him so that he is the last standing hero and rich person in the world. He doesn't care about democracy, he doesn't care about this country, he doesn't care about people. All he cares about is chaos and violence, and he could care less about the destruction of America."
He added, "All he cares about is the grifting that he's doing so that he can walk away with billion after billion after billion, and he can say to everybody in the world that he's the richest, the smartest, the best, superlative you can find in every area. So he doesn't give a damn about this country. And any of his supporters that think that he does is a joke, in my opinion."
