The nominations for the Emmy awards have been announced, and one nomination in the news category stands out in particular as a dig at President Donald Trump.
The Daily Beast reported Thursday that CBS got several nominations in the News and Documentary category, including one for Outstanding Edited Interview. That nomination was for former Vice President Kamala Harris' interview with CBS' Face the Nation, in which she was seen giving an answer to a question in one segment of the interview as part of a promotional clip, with the official interview that aired showing her speaking during a separate portion of her answer.
That clip resulted in Trump suing CBS for $10 billion, claiming the network engaged in deceptive editing and "news distortion" in order to make Harris look good ahead of the election. CBS is now contemplating settling with Trump, as his administration has to give final approval to a potential merger between CBS' parent company, Paramount, with Skydance.

The New York Times reported earlier this week that CBS appears to be paving the way toward a settlement with Trump, and that network executive Shari Redstone would get a "major payday" should the Paramount/Skydance merger be approved. Redstone reportedly pressured 60 Minutes producer Bill Owens into resigning from his position, as he felt that the network's persistent questions about the show's coverage of Trump resulted in him losing his ability to be independent as a journalist.
CBS' 60 Minutes was also nominated for other Emmy awards in the news category, including a long-form coverage award for its coverage of border issues and a story on an Israeli plot to kill members of the group Hezbollah by detonating pagers. Other 60 Minutes nominations included features on Bhutan, the SS Cap Arcona ocean liner and an interview with the late Pope Francis.
The 60 Minutes team also secured big wins in the Emmy awards in previous years for interviews with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and with a freed Israeli hostage in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
