Angry Tennessee man arrested after shooting into McDonald's drive-thru window after hurling racist slur

A Tennessee man who was angry about receiving an incorrect order at McDonald's allegedly shot an employee at the restaurant's drive-thru window.

On Tuesday, February 8, the suspect, identified as 61-year-old Charles Connors, was arrested in connection with the shooting which took place back in Memphis, Tenn., last October. Shelby County Jail records indicate that Connors is now facing two counts of criminal-attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and two counts of possession of a firearm with the intent to commit a felony.

Connors' arrest comes just months after investigators were able to confirm his identity through the credit card information he used to pay for the McDonalds order. During a recent interview, McDonald's employee Terrika Means recounted the disturbing encounter as she revealed how close she came to being shot.

“If I would’ve been over one inch, just a centimeter, an inch, a centimeter, that would’ve been the back of my head,” Terrika Means said. “I see flashes of it every time.”

Per The New York Post, Means said "Connors showed up at the fast-food location during a shift change that evening. When he attempted to order, an employee asked him to wait. Connors instead drove up to the first drive-thru window and ordered."

Means went to say that Connors spews curse words at the employee. “I asked him how he was doing and next thing you know I was like, ‘I was just informed that you just disrespected, you know, one of my young ladies and she’s just a young lady, she’s just a girl,'” she said.

Means also said, "she issued Connors a refund when he demanded one and he began cursing and yelling racial slurs."

After that, authorities noted, Connors opened fire on the employee.

“And when I closed the window and took two steps that’s when I felt the fire come across my neck,” Means said.

While speaking to local authorities, Connors also admitted to shooting inside the McDonalds restaurant. His first court appearance is set for February 16.
