Stephanie Grisham started out as a Trump ally and now she's in a deeply-red GOP town working against him

Stephanie Grisham was once the White House Press Secretary under former President Donald Trump's administration. Now, she's reportedly residing in a small town in Kansas where she's working against the former president.
According to NPR, Grisham now lives in the west-central Kansas town of Plainville; a town where Trump is still revered as a Republican savior despite his shortcomings and legal woes. In fact, Trump won the town with a staggering 86% of the vote in 2020. However, Grisham is working to ensure he never lands in the White House again.
“She hides in plain sight here,” said Lauren Mack, a local veterinarian in the town, which has a population of approximately 1,750.
Back in 2016, Grisham joined Trump's presidential campaign platform in hopes of making America "great again" and ultimately rose to a high-ranking position when she was appointed as First Lady Melania Trump’s spokeswoman. She went on to become the White House Press Secretary. However, it was that position that allowed her to see the administration from a different perspective; behind closed doors.
Per KCUR.org, "Her view from inside the Trump White House made her lose faith. And when, during the Jan. 6 insurrection, Melania Trump refused to OK a tweet condemning the violence on Capitol Hill, Grisham quit."
Speaking to the publication, Grisham shared details about living in Plainville. “I’ve had absolutely no problems,” Grisham said. “Everybody’s kind to me. There are a couple of people who, I think, give me looks that aren’t super pleasant. But well, you know, maybe they’re just having a bad day.”
So, why did she move to Plainville? The move started with a visit to her sister, who married a Plainville resident. That visit ended up lasting three whole weeks.
“I kept thinking like, ‘Oh, what’s going to happen here?’” Grisham said. “This is a very big Second Amendment part of the country and, I’m not going to lie, I thought, ‘Should I learn to shoot a gun myself? Am I going to need protection?’”
Grisham also shed light on the truth about Trump despite his followers' public perception of him. “He’s not your savior and he’s not looking out for you. And I am saying that as somebody who really thought he was,” she said. “I’ve got to try to figure out a way to express that to people.”
Grisham concluded with a blistering assessment of the former president as she explained why she feels compelled to push back against his agenda.
“He’s the ultimate con man,” Grisham said. “I … feel the responsibility to try to talk to the people I talk to all the time who think he's amazing. And I wanna say, ‘I understand that. I thought he was amazing.” But I promise you, he’s not in your corner. He’s in Donald Trump’s corner. Period.”
