State GOP lawmaker claims he left the US Capitol while it was 'still peaceful' — but footage proves otherwise

Pennsylvania state Sen. Doug Mastriano (R), whose campaign shelled out thousands of dollars to fund buses for Trump supporters who wanted to travel to Washington, D.C., was among the massive crowd of Trump supporters who visited the U.S. Capitol. Although he has insisted that he managed to leave the premises before the situation erupted into a riot, photos and videos have surfaced to suggest otherwise.
According to HuffPost, an online community known as the "Sedition Hunters" has analyzed photos and videos from Jan. 6 that show Mastriano at the Capitol amid the civil unrest. The publication notes that "Mastriano and his wife appeared to be in a crowd as it breached a police line. Mastriano was wearing one of his campaign hats and a dark-green scarf on the day."
The footage also appears to show "people moving forward as a man picks up and throws away the police barricades. Another image shows the couple on the northwest lawn."
Now, Twitter users are circulating images and screenshots of Mastriano and his wife at the Capitol.
The latest findings come months after Mastriano joined the bandwagon of lawmakers who supported former President Donald Trump's falsehoods about the presidential election being stolen and his attempts to overturn the results.
