Senate staffer who filmed pornographic video in committee room abruptly fired

The US Senate staffer who filmed himself having gay sex in a Capitol Hill hearing room and posted it online has been let go.

Politico reported Saturday that Aidan Maese-Czeropski — an aide to Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Maryland) — was fired in the wake of a report published by the Daily Caller on Friday night about a pornographic video filmed in the Hart Office Building. The Caller didn't name Maese-Czeropski in its article, but several conservative media outlets deduced that the man shown having sex in Hart 216 — The Judiciary Room was Maese-Czeropski.

"Aidan Maese-Czeropski is no longer employed by the US Senate," Cardin told Politico on Saturday.

The video shows two men engaging in a sex act in between where Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota) and Chris Coons (D-Delaware) sit in Hart 216, which Politico described as "the cavernous room that has played host to Supreme Court nominees, the 9/11 Commission hearings and former FBI Director James Comey's blockbuster 2017 testimony on Donald Trump." Cardin's office said it would offer "no further comment" on Maese-Czeropski.

Sen. Cardin's former staffer also made headlines after he was seen interrupting Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio) in the Cannon House Office Building, who was in the middle of an interview with NBC News' Ali Vitali, shouting "free Palestine!"

"Cardin staff wildin'," tweeted Rep. Mike Collins (R-Georgia). "Making porn at work and yelling 'free Palestine' at a Jewish congressman?"

"This has been a difficult time for me, as I have been attacked for who I love to pursue a political agenda. While some of my actions in the past have shown poor judgement, I love my job and would never disrespect my workplace," Maese-Czeropski posted to LinkedIn. "Any attempts to characterize my actions otherwise are fabricated and I will be exploring what legal options are available to me in these matters."
