Smith adds three charges to Trump Mar-a-Lago document indictment: report

United States Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith on Thursday added additional charges to the thirty-seven-count indictment against former President Donald Trump for his alleged illegal withholding of classified documents at this Palm Beach, Florida Mar-a-Lago estate.

"Trump has been charged with three new counts, including one additional count of willful retention of national defense information and two additional obstruction counts, related to alleged attempts to delete surveillance video footage at the Mar-a-Lago resort in summer 2022," CNN reports.

"According to a summary from Smith's office," CNN continues, "Carlos De Oliveira, a 56-year-old maintenance worker at the resort, has been added to the obstruction conspiracy charges in the original indictment."
