'She clearly has lost her way': CNN’s Erin Burnett weighs in on former coworker Bartiromo’s far-right shift

CNN's Erin Burnett is weighing in on the far-right downward spiral of Fox News' Maria Bartiromo. On Thursday, March 16, Burnett appeared on The Axe Files where she discussed her former co-worker with host David Axelrod.

While Burnett did commend Bartiromo for her professional strength she admitted she believes she's "lost her way."

“I always thought her greatest strength was that she was a hard worker and I feel that she lost her way. Clearly, she’s lost her way,” she said. “I’m obviously not personally close to her, but I think it’s sad what has happened to be honest because she was a very hard worker.”

At another point during the interview, Axelrod asked Burnett about the presumed "rivalry" between the two anchors asking, "Did you feel as if you guys were competing, pitted in any way?”

To that question, Burnett replied, “We definitely were, and I don’t know, maybe as life goes on I’ll get more perspective on it, I think there is a desire out there for there to be a women versus women thing. I hope that that’s lessened over time, but when I was there that was certainly part of it.”

Burnett also referenced the Vanity Fair article, titled Who is Wall Street Queen B.?, as she addressed the so-called rival between the two of them. “Vanity Fair did an article that was about me versus Maria and I was like ‘why would that be the article?’" Burnett said. "There was a desire for that sort of narrative.”

Burnett's latest interview comes days after Bartiromo was criticized for her remarks slamming the White House's response to the Ukraine invasion. During her segment on Sunday, she said, “Some people have told me … this administration does not see Putin as the enemy, they see him as a partner on many issues."
