Nate Silver to Stephen Colbert: I'd Rather Vote for Ebola Than Political Pundits

This election, polling expert and NYT blogger Nate Silver drew the wrath of America's punditry, seemingly for the sin of basing his predictions on actual evidence. That is not the pundit's way! American political prognisticators attacked Silver's methods and conclusions, including Joe Scarborough, who declared, "Anybody that thinks that this race is anything but a tossup right now is such an ideologue, they should be kept away from typewriters, computers, laptops and microphones for the next 10 days, because they’re jokes.” Nevermind that as Alex Pareene pointed out on Salon, Scarborough actually agreed with Silver's conclusion that Obama had a higher chance of winning.

Last night on the Colbert Report, Silver aired his perspective on the pundit's profession, telling Stephen Colbert, "I’m not very pro-pundit, I have to say,” Silver said. “If pundits were on the ballot against, like, I don’t know, Ebola, I might vote Ebola, or third party.”

In other Nate Silver news, the polling expert now says the President is a 91.6 percent favorite for re-election.
