Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is now offering new details of conversations she had with President Donald Trump pertaining to deceased child predator Jeffrey Epstein.
CBS' 60 Minutes teased its interview of Greene in a post to X on Friday. In the clip, reporter Lesley Stahl is seen asking the Georgia Republican about behind-the-scenes conversations she had with the president about her push to compel the Department of Justice (DOJ) to release all remaining evidence on Epstein from his two federal criminal investigations.
"We did talk about the Epstein files, and he was extremely angry at me that I had signed the discharge petition to release the files," Greene said. "I fully believe that those women deserve everything they're asking, they're asking for all of it to come out. And they deserve it. And he was furious with me."
"What did he say?'" Stahl asked.
"He said that it was going to hurt people," Greene replied.
Greene was a persistent thorn in Trump's side, constantly needling him about the Epstein files during his unsuccessful attempt to defeat the bipartisan discharge petition to release the documents. Trump ultimately relented and indicated he would sign the legislation if it reached his desk. Both chambers of Congress passed it by near-unanimous margins.
The Georgia lawmaker announced last month she would not seek another term in Congress, after Trump posted a tirade against her on his Truth Social platform calling her a "ranting lunatic." According to Fox News, Greene may be nursing a grudge against Trump over his refusal to back her hypothetical camaign for next year's U.S. Senate race in Georgia.
Greene's full interview with 60 Minutes will air Sunday on CBS. It will be her first sit-down interview since she announced her retirement from the House of Representatives.
