House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) was recently cornered by a member of the House Democratic Caucus over his silence about President Donald Trump's latest gesture of disrespect toward Democratic lawmakers.

On Monday night, Trump posted an AI-generated video to his Truth Social platform showing House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) standing outside of the White House, Jeffries was depicted with a crudely drawn-on mustache and a sombrero, while mariachi music played in the background. A deepfake imitation of Schumer's voice was heard describing how "even Black people" won't vote for Democrats.

CNN reporter Manu Raju posted a video of Rep Madeleine Dean (D-Pa.) confronting Johnson in a hallway at the U.S. Capitol about the video, in which the Pennsylvania Democrat can be heard saying: "How about that video last night with Hakeem and Schumer? Did you call that out?"

"It's not my style," Johnson is heard saying.

"Not your style? It's disgraceful! It's bigoted! It's racist!" Dean said. "You should call it out!"

When Johnson said he personally didn't view the video as racist, Dean pushed back, saying: "Is it racist? You put a sombrero on a Black man who's the leader of the House? You don't see that as racist? We need you desperately to lead."

Raju posted an additional video of the exchange between Dean and Johnson, in which the Democratic lawmaker is also heard asking the speaker his thoughts about Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's Tuesday speeches to several hundred military leaders. Later, Dean told Raju that she called on Johnson to personally take the time to watch Trump's full speech and to stage an intervention.

"I said, 'you should watch it. The President is unwell ... That somebody needs to go to him," Dean told Raju.
