'Shattered the morale': Meta employees offer stinging rebuke of Mark Zuckerberg amid mass layoffs

Meta employees have offered a critical opinion of the company's CEO Mark Zuckerberg following his second wave of mass layoffs, according to Business Insider.

The latest concerns follow the company's recent announcement to lay off an additional 10,000 employees. Some of the workers impacted by that announcement received layoff notices on Wednesday, April 19.

Now, they have voiced their concerns about the social media company's decision via an internal forum, the news outlet reports.

"You've shattered the morale and confidence in leadership of many high performers who work with intensity," one question said according to Reuters. "Why should we stay at Meta?"

The post appears to be in reference to Zuckerberg's remarks made last July.

"This is a period that demands more intensity, and I expect us to get more done with fewer resources," Insider's Kali Hays reported.

The latest concerns come as shifts continue to take place in Silicon Valley. Per Insider: "Meta started its mass layoffs in November, cutting 13% of its staff. Some managers and directors that stayed on, were then asked to either move to a non-management role or quit. Last month, he announced the second set of layoffs that would impact another 10,000 workers."

Kerry Sulkowicz, the managing principal of the Boswell Group, explained the perspective of concerned employees and how the layoffs appear to be impacting productivity.

"They're constantly wondering, 'Is there another round coming? Am I next?'" said Sulkowicz.
