'Meltdown': Fox host loses it when fact-checked by Dem senator on key ballot issue

Fox News host Martha MacCallum sparred with Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) Tuesday over the electoral impact of Donald Trump's overturning of Roe v. Wade on women voters in Arizona.

Voters across the battleground state have the opportunity to vote on Arizona's Proposition 139, which would enshrine "abortion rights in the state constitution," and "could bring to an end more than two years of uncertainty about abortion access," according to AZ Central.

Considering the fact that Roe v. Wade was successfully overturned because of the MAGA leader's conservative Supreme Court justice appointees, Kelly argued that reproductive rights could still be in jeopardy under a second Trump presidency.

When MacCallum claimed that "abortion's not banned in Arizona," Kelly noted there's "a 15-week ban with no exceptions for rape and incest."

He added, "The issue is if Donald Trump is back in the White House, he has previously said that given the opportunity, he will put in a nationwide abortion ban."

MacCallum shot back, "He didn't say that. Senator, I'm sorry. He has not said that. Do you want to start talking about what Kamala Harris previously said? Because she was against fracking."

"So now we're talking about fracking?" the senator replied. "I thought we were talking about the women vote in Arizona."

The Fox News host claimed that Trump "made it clear he will not ban abortion as president," asking the Grand Canyon State lawmaker, "Do you accept that?"

Kelly asserted, "He has said he will punish women, and doctors will go to jail. And women know that here in Arizona."

According to journalist Justin Baragona, MacCallum then had a "meltdown," declaring, "It doesn't have anything to do with Trump! It all went back to the states! It's not a federal issue!"

"It's gonna become a federal issue with the next president. Kamala Harris has said — made it very clear — that given the opportunity, she's gonna bring back the rights and protections that people had under Roe v. Wade," Kelly replied. "And Donald Trump has said, previously, that he would sign a nationwide abortion ban. Those are two very contrasted views. ... She's made it clear that she stands with women, and Donald Trump does not. I think the women of Arizona understand that, and that's why they're showing up at pretty high rates. They know this right was taken from them by Donald Trump. He appointed the justices."

After MacCallum argued again that Trump didn't say he will ban abortion, Kelly concluded, "Donald Trump has said he broke Roe v. Wade. He owns it. Women don't like it."
