Both Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin had curious comments on Monday, attempting to blame the previous administration two years into President Donald Trump's second term.
At an event with Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Mullin remarked, "You have a Biden administration that is failing the American people."
Vance seemed to use it for every question he was asked.
When asked about global vulnerabilities as munitions continue to be drained and bombs fly in Iran, Vance said, "We certainly saw under the Biden administration ..."
The reporter replied, "Biden was president 580 days ago."
Vance moved on to the next question.
The VP began the discussion by blaming the Biden administration for "fraud in commercial trucking."
It prompted swift mockery.
"These people refuse to admit that Biden won in 2020, but they apparently believe he won in 2024," said ex-reporter Helen Kennedy.
Actor Henry Winkler commented, "I did not know Biden was still in office."
"Time travel. He's invented time travel," mocked The Lincoln Project's Rick Wilson.
"This clip is somehow from today," said Jeopardy! champion Hemant Mehta.
"Is the Biden administration in the room with us right now?" asked Ryan M Forman.
Jamie Bonkiewicz commented, "Republicans control the government and somehow Joe Biden is still running it 589 days later. Incredible."
Chris Wozney quipped, "Do you want to tell or should I?"
One account deployed logic, "Biden is not the president and what you're admitting is Trump can't fix what you claim. Why, because it isn't true!
"You literally control all 3 branches of government," replied Texan Jared Shult.
"Without Joe Biden, Republicans have nothing at all to run on this fall. The blame Joe Biden game for everything is growing really old and tired. Just like the GOP," said NewBlueUSA executive director Marty Taylor.
Even Gov. Gavin Newsom's press office got in on the mockery. "Biden administration ended 20 months ago, big guy," they said.
One person mocked, "Oh he bad bad at this y’all" followed by two laughing/crying emojis
Another cracked that it's clear "Biden is still living rent-free" in Mullin's head.
A different person remarked that it's similar to administration members who tried to blame Biden for the pandemic in 2020 when he didn't take office until 2021.
Writer Steven Grant noted on BlueSky, "that Markwayne Mullin can go out talking about the Biden administration as if it's still in office just underscores how utterly unqualified he is for anything to do with intelligence."
"If we had a Biden or Harris administration we would still have the East Wing, the Rose Garden, the Kennedy Center, the Cherry Trees, edible food and more. The current administration is a wrecking ball and little else," said retired software guy Jim Watts on Threads.
