Marjorie Taylor Greene tells Jewish non-profit CEO that abortion rights enable white supremacy

United States Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) declared that abortion is the same as white supremacy while berating Jewish Council for Public Affairs Chief Executive Officer Amy Spitalnick during a House of Representatives hearing on Wednesday.

The incident began with Greene mispronouncing Spitalnick's name.

"Ms. Spittle Neck. You were talking about white supremacists," Greene said.

"It's Spitalnick," the CEO replied, correcting Greene.

"Oh, I apologize. Spitalnick. Ms. Spitalnick, while you were talking about white supremacists in abortion, I totally agree with you. There's a lot of white supremists, supremacists in the abortion movement, um, and abortionists because they have murdered over twenty million Black babies in America since Roe versus Wade in 1973. That's on average nine hundred Black babies are aborted," Greene said

"They're ripped apart inside their mother's wombs. So I, you know, I would agree with you that that could be labeled white supremacy or we could just label it murder and it should never be happening," Greene continued. "So if you wanna talk about white supremacy and the abortion movement, you should really analyze that in your human rights groups that you run as you collect donations from people with your nonprofit, because I think that is something extremely important to talk about is the right for those Black babies to have lives as American citizens, the right for them to be born, the right for them to be given a chance to live as free Americans instead of murder..."

Greene cut herself off because Spitalnick was clearly not taking her argument seriously.

"You think this is funny, Ms. Spitalnick? Is this funny to you? Is babies being murdered in the womb funny to you? Because you're smirking and laughing at me right now," Greene snapped.

Spitalick was armed with a response.

"What's not funny are the Black people and Hispanic people and Jewish people and Muslim people who have been murdered in synagogue, in church, in supermarkets, in mosque, by white supremacists," she said.

Spitalnick's point was lost on Greene.

"Are you aware that, that all-colored people are murdered? Uh, that is, that is a fact that every single-color person has been murdered. That, that's not unusual. It's not just that people of color are murdered, white people are murdered too. Murder is not just for minorities. I, that may be a shock to you."

Spitalnick later reflected upon her confrontation with Greene.

I just finished testifying at a nearly 3-hour House Homeland Security hearing that right-wing members like MTG used to normalize bigotry and hate against trans people and downplay white supremacist violence — under the guise of addressing "left wing violence,'" Spitalnick wrote on Twitter. "It was appalling."
