'She’s outta here': Marjorie Taylor Greene abruptly leaves TV appearance without explanation

On Monday, October 24, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia was a guest on “Night Talk,” a local call-in show that airs on UCTV in North Georgia. The controversial far-right MAGA Republican, conspiracy theorist, QAnon supporter and Donald Trump loyalist took calls on a variety of subjects, from abortion to the January 6, 2021 insurrection.

But Greene, according to Newsweek, abruptly left during the broadcast — and the show’s hosts didn’t know why.

“After around one hour of taking questions, one caller told Greene that she was ‘proud’ of her voting record in Congress, and that she would be voting for the congresswoman in the upcoming midterms,” Newsweek’s Ewan Palmer reports in an article published on October 26. “Greene then thanked the woman, before ‘Night Talk’ went to commercials. Just as the show cut out, Greene could be heard explaining that she had to leave, although the reason why was not broadcast.”

Palmer adds that when the show “returned without the congresswoman,” host Judy O'Neal told viewers, “Well, we're back without Marjorie Taylor Greene.... She's gone. We'll take your calls and comments and whatever you have to say, but she left. She said she'd enjoyed my show, and she's through — and she got up and left. So, she's outta here. Nothing I can do about that.”

Palmer notes that Greene, before her unexpected departure, got into a “heated exchange” with a female caller about abortion. The pro-choice caller told Greene, “You're blaming this all on the women. My body is my body, and I want — I don't want the government telling me what I can do with my body.”

Greene responded, “You're right. It's your body, but a baby inside a woman's womb is another person's body, not your body and not my body. And abortion is murder of another human being, whether that body is inside your uterus or not. But that is murder. I do not support the murder of another human being. …. So, I appreciate your interest in women's rights, but killing an unborn baby is not a woman's right, and that's not health care."

The 48-year-old Greene is running for reelection in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, where she is up against Democratic nominee Marcus Flowers. Georgia, once a deep red state, has evolved into a swing state in recent years; President Joe Biden carried Georgia in 2020, and both of Georgia’s U.S. senators are Democrats: Raphael Warnock, who is running for reelection against GOP nominee Herschel Walker, and Jon Ossoff. But Greene’s district remains overwhelmingly Republican, and Flowers has acknowledged that he is fighting an uphill battle.
