Watch: MTG brags about racist rant telling reporter to 'go back to your country'

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) recently bragged about telling a reporter to “go back to your country” after she faced questions about the issue of gun control in the United States and U.K.

On Wednesday, June 22, Greene posted a clip of the exchange on Twitter. In the brief video, an unidentified woman could be heard asking Greene, "We don’t have guns in the U.K., that is true, but we don’t have mass shootings either,” the woman asked Greene during a press conference, according to a clip posted by Greene. “Children aren’t scared to go to school.”

Instead of answering the question, Greene —who appeared alongside like-minded Republican Reps. Lauren Boebert (Colo.) Thomas Massie (Ky.) and Andrew Clyde (Ga.)— said, “You have mass stabbings, lady. You have all kinds of murder and you’ve got laws against that.”

“Nothing like the same rates here,” the reporter said.

In response, Greene said, “Well, you can go back to your country and worry about your no guns. We like ours here,” Greene said.

Although Greene refused to address the issue, Pew Research Center reports that the homicide rate in the United States four times higher than in the U.K. To make matters worse, 2020 statistics show indicate that approximately 80% of homicides in the United States where the result of firearms.

HuffPost also reported: "The gun death rate in the U.S. is substantially higher than any other developed nation, most of which have stricter gun control laws. In the past few years, England, Scotland and Wales combined have seen around 30 gun deaths a year. Comparatively, the number of murders involving firearms in the U.S. in 2020 was 19,384."

Greene's remarks come amid House Republican lawmakers' deep criticism of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act which aims to expand the reach of background checks for individuals seeking to purchase firearms and shift millions in funding to help states incorporate red-flag laws, which, according to HuffPost would "allow authorities to temporarily confiscate firearms from individuals deemed dangerous to themselves or others."
