'Funny': Analyst calls out 'the fighter' Jim Jordan over whining to Trump after 2020 election
17 October 2023
Hours after House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) lost the speakership vote Tuesday, MSNBC legal analyst Lisa Rubin took to X (formerly Twitter) to mention the GOP congressman's involvement in backing ex-President Donald Trump's 2020 election denial.
Rubin wrote, "Just a reminder that on the 12/27/20 phone call where Trump told the acting Attorney General & his deputy to 'just say that the election was corrupt and leave the rest to me & the R. congressmen,' Trump also singled out one of those members, a 'fighter' named Jim Jordan. That deputy's handwritten notes from the call reflect that Jordan, the fighter, complained to Trump, in the aftermath of the 2020 election, 'We're like [a] 3rd world country.'"
She continued, "The deputy, Richard Donoghue, also testified to the Jan. 6th committee about that call and his notes, explaining Jordan was 'trying to find out what happened with regard to these various fraud allegations and that they were doing what they could *but that their authority was limited.* Funny how Jordan no longer believes in many, if any, limits on the House's investigative authority, even if it means interfering with the Justice Department or local prosecutors."
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?
Earlier this month, U.S. Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO), noted that he would not back Jordan unless he said the 2020 presidential election was not stolen from Trump.
On Tuesday, during interviews with MSNBC's Katy Tur and CNN's Jake Tapper, Buck reiterated his demand.
