Jimmy Kimmel Calls GOP Health Care Bill a 'Scam,' Tells Senator 'Stop Using My Name'

Jimmy Kimmel used Tuesday's taping of his ABC late-night show to rain fire upon the Graham-Cassidy bill.

The host explained how Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) flat-out lied to him by claiming to support a host of health care positions the senator's own new bill directly contradicts. “This guy, Bill Cassidy, just lied right to my face,” Kimmel said.

He demanded that Cassidy stop hiding behind the popular phrase "Kimmel test" to denote humane health care legislation, a phrase popularized after Kimmel tearfully revealed his son's heart condition while defending the Affordable Care Act from Republican repeal efforts.

The Graham-Cassidy bill to repeal the ACA would price vulnerable people out of the insurance market and result in tens of millions of people losing health care.

Kimmel responded to accusations that he was politicizing his young son's health problems by agreeing and saying it was the right thing to do, because many families with kids don't have coverage like his does.

To internet commenters who disagreed, Kimmel has a message: "You can shove your disgusting comments where your doctor won’t be giving you a prostate exam once they take your health benefits away."
