"The radical Islamists, the al-Qaida ... would be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on Sept. 11 because they would declare victory in this war on terror."
-- Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa 5th), basing his prediction of a possible Obama presidency on the Illinois senator's pledge to pull troops out of Iraq, his Kenyan heritage and his middle name, Hussein.
King, who is up for re-election in a conservative district, said in the next breath that his comments were not meant to demean Obama. I wonder if McCain thinks this is how his supporters on the Hill should campaign on his behalf.

In what cannot be a surprise to Blenders, this is on King's web site:
I support marriage between one man and one woman. Marriage is the building block of the family, of community and of society. I do not support allowing special legal rights based on sexual orientation. I believe the traditional American family, together with conservative values, forms the bedrock of our free society. States should not be forced to recognize the same-sex marriages of other states. I am the original co-sponsor of a Constitutional amendment to defend the definition of marriage as the union between a man and a woman.
