Giuliani risked national security with 'crazy' trip to the Apple Store while serving as White House cybersecurity adviser

Remember when Donald Trump made Rudolph Giuliani the White House’s top cybersecurity adviser? NBC News has evidence that less than a month after the surprise announcement of Giuliani’s cybersecurity position, the former New York City mayor and intergalactic human failure locked himself out of his own phone. According to the report, in February of 2017, Giuliani walked into an Apple Store to find out how to get into his phone, as he had tried, unsuccessfully, to enter his passcode 10 times, triggering the device’s antitheft failsafe and locking him out.

NBC spoke to a former FBI agent who had worked in cybercrime, who explained that going to a public store to allow an employee to access the top White House cybersecurity adviser’s phone is a huge security risk. Another FBI supervisory agent, when told about the visit by NBC News, reacted with surprise, saying, “That’s crazy.”

“You’re trusting that person in the store not to look at other information that is beyond what you’re there to get assistance for,” said [former FBI supervisory special agent Michael] Anaya, who now works as the head of global investigations for the DEVCON cybersecurity firm. "That’s a lot of trust you’re putting into an individual that you don’t know.”

There are few things more frustrating than watching a group of immoral, incompetent miscreants run our country into the ground. For every story of how obvious and transparent the corruption in our current administration is, there’s another story about how incompetent and painfully inadequate they are at doing their actual jobs. This isn’t the first or second or third example of how and why, of all things, Giuliani should not be allowed near anything technological.

There is no meritocracy when it comes to corruption. The overinflated and fragile egos required for these kinds of cabals means that anyone that you have something on (or that has something on you) must be given a place in the scam, regardless of whether or not they have any aptitude for anything. It’s a rat cage filled with money, and they’re all trying to collect as much as they can and get out the door before there’s a reckoning.
