'They're laughing now': 'Thrilled' Giuliani-jailed mobsters celebrate former prosecutor's RICO indictment

Before he was elected mayor of New York City in 1993 — defeating incumbent Democratic Mayor David Dinkins — Rudy Giuliani was best known for his work as a federal prosecutor. Giuliani aggressively prosecuted the mob, often using RICO laws.

Now, ironically, Giuliani himself is a defendant in a criminal prosecution being led by Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis, who alleges that former President Donald Trump, Giuliani and 16 others illegally conspired to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in her state. Willis is using RICO laws as part of her case, and according to long-time mob lawyer Murray Richman, some of his clients are loving the irony.

The Messenger reports that Richman says he has "spoke to several of my clients" since Willis announced the indictment.

Richman told The Messsenger, "You can quote me to say, 'They're f****** thrilled.' I don't want to say the language, but they really ripped Rudy a new a******."

The attorney added, "Half of these guys love Trump. They freaking love Trump, but all of them are almost unified in their position of hating f****** Rudy."

Defense attorney Jeffrey Lichtman, who represented the late mob boss John Gotti, told The Messenger, "All of my clients who had the misfortune of being prosecuted by him are laughing now, as am I. I'm thrilled that Rudy will now experience what it feels like to be on the wrong end of a RICO prosecution — with a mandatory five years in prison facing him."

Lichtman added, "It's not just an ironic result, but it's a just result. He was a horribly dishonest prosecutor, and the wheel of karma is about to crush him."
