Former aide reveals her father boycotted her wedding when she publicly condemned Trump

A former White House aide who worked for the Trump administration is revealing how her own father boycotted her wedding when she criticized the former president for inciting the insurrection on the U.S. Capitol.

On Friday, February 11, Alyssa Farah, the former White House communications director, appeared on "The View" where the topic of toxic family members was mentioned during the discussion. Farah revealed her conservative father and stepmother refused to attend her wedding back in November due to “political differences after I spoke out against President Trump.”

Farah worked for the Trump White House until she resigned from her position in December 2020.

“After three and a half incredible years, I will be leaving the White House to pursue new opportunities,” Farah said at the time. “I am deeply proud of the incredible things we were able to accomplish to make our country stronger, safer and more secure.”

Shortly after the Jan. 6 insurrection, Farah, who also worked as a spokesperson for former Vice President Mike Pence and the Pentagon, condemned Trump's actions and negative influence on his support base; a move that garnered sharp criticism from her father.

“The answer was simple,” said Farah. “Like, I love them. They were welcome to be there on my end. But if they didn’t want to be there, why would I interrupt my special day by trying to have them there?”

When asked if her father is a member of the infamous MAGA “cult,” Farah said, “Unfortunately. I mean, listen, the MAGA strength runs really far and deep.”

But despite the opposition she's faced, she admitted, she enjoyed her wedding. She also revealed the silver lining that came with her wedding day.

“I got to be with my new family,” she said.
