Elon Musk did not vote in the midterms: report
One CNN reporter is sharing his reaction to being one of the many journalists suspended from Twitter by the social network's new CEO Elon Musk.
On Friday, December 16, Donie O'Sullivan appeared on “CNN This Morning” where he offered some insight into the ban. According to HuffPost, O'Sullivan said, "the claim that he and other journalists had reported Musk’s exact real-time location, therefore breaking the platform’s newly updated rules, does not stand up to scrutiny."
Pushing back against Musk's claims, O'Sullivan said, “That’s just entirely false."
At one point during the segment, O'Sullivan was asked why he believes he was really suspended to which he responded, "I poked the billionaire.”
O'Sullivan's remarks come just hours after he and a number of other notable journalists were suspended from the platform. Per the news outlet, some of the other big names in journalism include "The New York Times’ Ryan Mac, The Washington Post’s Drew Harwell, Mashable’s Matt Binder, and independent journalist Aaron Rupar."
Although O'Sullivan admitted that Twitter does have the right to institute such suspensions because it is privately held, he also argued that Musk, who recently described himself as a "free speech absolutist," contradicted his own remarks by doing so.
“Coming from the guy who’s the free speech absolutist, who says he wants this to be a beacon of free expression, it is quite something to see him banning journalists who all just happen to cover him critically but I would also say fairly,” O’Sullivan said.
Offering a response to O'Sullivan's suspension, CNN acknowledged that it is "concerning" and confirmed its plan to reevaluate its relationship with the social network.
