Elon Musk claims he suffered 'major side effects' after taking the COVID booster shot

Billionaire businessman and Twitter CEO Elon Musk recently shared claims about health complications he faced after a COVID-19 booster shot as he claimed his cousin also suffered a severe case of myocarditis.

Musk shared his tweets in the early hours of Saturday, January 21, in response to data included in newly released Rasmussen Reports.

According to Mediaite, the report claimed "a minority of those who have taken the Covid vaccine reported facing 'major side effects.'” When political pundit Scott Adams inquired about how the data should be explained, Musk retweeted the report and offered details about his own experience with the shot.

“I had major side effects from my second booster shot. Felt like I was dying for several days. Hopefully, no permanent damage, but I dunno,” Musk tweeted. “And my cousin, who is young & in peak health, had a serious case of myocarditis. Had to go to the hospital.”

When Musk faced scrutiny for even getting the shot, he quickly responded with an explanation as he insisted that it wasn't his choice.

Musk tweeted that it "was required to visit Tesla Giga Berlin."

He went on to offer more clarity about his experience as he insisted that his illness was a result of the booster shot and not the actual vaccine. He also clarified that his Johnson & Johnson vaccination and following booster turned out normal.

Musk also tweeted, "I had OG C19 before vaccines came out and it was basically a mild cold. Then had J&J vaccine with no bad effects, except my arm hurt briefly. First mRNA booster was ok, but the second one crushed me."

Per the news outlet, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) notes that there is a "rare risk" of myocarditis and the illness is commonly contracted by young males.

Per the CDC:

"Data from multiple studies show a rare risk for myocarditis and/or pericarditis following receipt of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines. These rare cases of myocarditis or pericarditis have occurred most frequently in adolescent and young adult males, ages 16 years and older, within 7 days after receiving the second dose of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna)."
