Early State Republican Primary Voters Want A Ground War Against ISIS

The attacks in Paris are being exploited to gin up more war fever. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), a GOP presidential candidate, appeared on Fox News Sunday and spoke of the “political advantage” that the Paris attacks will give the Republicans.

A CBS News poll out today shows that Republican voters in early states want to see the war ramped up, with majorities of voters in three early primary and caucus states supporting a ground war in Iraq and Syria:

  • Iowa: 75% support, 25% oppose

  • New Hampshire: 65% support, 35% oppose

  • South Carolina: 79% support, 21% oppose

With such dramatic support for escalating the war in Iraq and Syria, it would appear that at least in the GOP primary, there very much is a “political advantage” to loose war talk.
